Save storage space in windows 10 by using Compact OS Feature.

Very few users are aware of this hidden special feature of Microsoft windows 10. Microsoft has introduced Compact OS a new compression mechanism in their windows 10. This feature reduce the Windows 10 footprint of devices and makes it use little space, e.g., such devices with smaller SSD’s such as: tablets and notebooks.

Also this compact OS feature has replaced the Windows 8.1’s Windows Image File Boot (WIMBoot) feature which helped us to run windows on small devices through booting from a compressed wim format image file. But it seems to be slower process.
While the compact OS feature in windows 10 is far better than WIM boot as it is easy to configure with much easier processing.

Enabling custom OS feature in windows 10.

Firstly to manage Compact OS feature run the following command in CMD: Compact.exe and don’t forget to give Administrator permissions. And below are the further commands for different features.

(NOTE: Compact OS needs to be enabled only when the system is really having storage issues otherwise it may slow down your System and affect the users experience too.)
